Our Approach

The Success Coach Model + Parents as Teachers

The Success Coach Model is a relationship-based approach that provides each young mom with a consistent, dedicated guide to help her navigate the challenges of early parenthood and young adulthood. Rather than focusing on just one area of need, the Success Coach walks alongside each participant, offering personalized support across multiple areas including education, career development, health and wellness, parenting, and housing stability. This model is rooted in trust, flexibility, and long-term engagement—ensuring that each young mom has a steady source of encouragement, accountability, and connection as she builds a strong foundation for herself and her child.

We’re proud to partner with Parents as Teachers, an evidence-based program that promotes positive parenting and child development. At each visit, parents work alongside trained educators to explore upcoming milestones and gain practical strategies for supporting their child’s growth. By understanding how everyday interactions shape development, parents feel more confident and prepared—especially during transitions that can feel overwhelming, like learning to say “no” or pulling up on furniture.

  • “As smooth as could be expected at such a young age…”

“I became a student at Florence Crittenton Day Program in August of 1988 at the tender age of 14. The staff at Florence Crittenton and supportive family members made my transition into motherhood as smooth as could be expected at such a young age.”

    - Tamara, Young Mom

  • "…changed my life for the better.”

“If anyone ever asked me what Florence Crittenton of Charleston, SC, means to me, I honestly could answer saying it has changed my life for the better.”

    - Andrea, Young Mom

  • “…makes my heart smile big time.”

“I personally decided to choose Florence Crittenton Programs to give back, because I was a participant of the program in 2010. For me to be sitting in front of their building 6 years later about to walk in and make a donation to help other single mothers makes my heart smile big time.”

    - Sandra, Supporter
