Summary
Youth Support Assistants make a genuine difference in the lives of young women and their children! Under the supervision of Youth Support Supervisors, Youth Support Assistants provide direct care, supervision, and guidance to young women living in our group home. They develop supportive, professional relationships with residents, serving as mentors and positive role models. They reinforce life skills and personal care programming within the group home environment.
Youth Support Assistant (FT) is a full-time, non-exempt position working a scheduled 8-hour shift: 8am – 4pm, with every other weekend off.
Job Duties
Provides day-to-day supervision of residents, offering mentorship and support to help residents meet their goals
Makes detailed daily case notes for each resident, documenting all activities within the shift that they occur; maintains resident and program records in accordance with applicable standards and regulations
Responds to resident medical symptoms and/or needs by following clinic instructions, administering medication, documenting and signing the MAR, transporting and escorting residents to medical appointments
Intervenes in problem behaviors by utilizing crisis intervention, redirection and de-escalation skills
Transports clients in agency vehicles to various appointments
Ensures residents follow program guidelines, rules and regulations at all times
Participates in a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education training annually
Maintains professional ethics as outlined in the NASW code of ethics
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1 year of satisfactory, full-time experience working in the care and programming of youth under 21 years of age. A post-secondary degree or certificate in human services is preferred.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; an ability to exercise excellent judgment and accept responsibility; a genuine interest in and liking for adolescents; a respect for individual and cultural differences; and being self-motivated, solution-focused, and committed to developing a strong community of women.
State licensing requires all candidates to be 25 years of age or older and able to pass standard background checks, including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, Child Abuse Central Registry and Sex Offenders Registry. All new employees will be required to provide proof within 6 weeks of hire that they are fully vaccinated against COVID. Youth Support Assistants are required to have a valid SC driver’s license and the ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

THE POSITION
Title: Bilingual Success Coach (English and Spanish)
The Success Coach will provide in-home and in-office assessment, crisis intervention, goal planning and skill
reinforcement for pregnant and parenting youth who have experienced foster care, kinship care or other out-of-home
placement. The position requires a solid understanding of programs and services in the Tri-County area, understanding of
the impact of exposure to potentially traumatic events, and of the issues affecting low-income families and in
low-moderate income, ethnically and racially diverse neighborhoods. The Success Coach will carry a caseload of 12-15
families requiring varying levels of service intensity.
Specific Responsibilities:
● Engagement, Assessment & Goal Planning (20%):
○ Recruit families for the Success Coach Service, educate community and agency partners in counties
served about service.
○ Work in conjunction with participating families to complete a comprehensive assessment and develop
goal plans addressing placement stability, caregiver self-efficacy and child/family wellbeing.
○ Engage participating families and provide in-home services, crisis intervention, case management, and
skill-building around problem-solving, self-advocacy, conflict resolution, and relapse planning.
○ Reassess family needs/goal plans at least annually or as needed.
● Skill-Building, Reinforcement & Crisis Prevention/Intervention (25%):
○ Provide individualized skill-reinforcement and coaching to model appropriate parenting/family behaviors
during home visitation or as situations arise.
○ Complete crisis prevention planning and skill building based on individual needs.
○ Serve a rotational on-call and back up schedule for emergency situations involving the need to be
available after hours.
● Service Coordination (25%):
○ Provide participating families with information and referrals to community resources and informal
supports to strengthen their self-efficacy.
○ Advocate for the family’s needs through community collaboration.
○ Build and maintain relationships with various community resources, interagency networks and informal
family supports.
● Administrative (30%):
○ Complete appropriate and timely documentation for evaluation purposes, as well as other
documentation, record-keeping and reports, as required by agency policy or project guidelines.
○ Keep up to date on child welfare and post-care literature/best practice models and available community
resources; attend relevant training to assist families with skill-building and coaching.
○ Follow all required activities to adhere to program evaluation protocol.
○ Participate in performance and quality improvement activities to ensure positive measurable outcomes
for families in alignment with Florence Crittenton’s strategic priorities.
○ Represent Florence Crittenton in community partnerships and activities, e.g. working groups and task
forces, community events, speaking engagements, presentations, etc. as assigned by the Sr. Director of
Programs.
○ Other duties as assigned.
THE INDIVIDUAL
CATEGORY I:Education, Training and Experience
The successful candidate will be bilingual with the ability to read, write, and conduct a conversation in English and
Spanish. They possess a demonstrated track record of building trust and establishing meaningful relationships with
Latino community members.
They will have a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, social or behavioral sciences or other related field from an
accredited four year college/university and experience equal to two years of full-time work in social work, human
services, or related experience. Experience as a Certified Community Health Worker is viewed favorably. Master’s degree
and valid licensure in South Carolina strongly preferred.
The successful candidate must be certified as a Parents as Teachers parent educator, or be able to become certified
within 90 days of employment. They must have the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint. They must have the ability to navigate the internet, including usage of and the ability to successfully
and accurately utilize web-based programs and applications.
The individual will be a creative problem solver with exceptional attention to detail in documentation. They will have
knowledge of casework methods, techniques, and their applications to work problems. They will possess a strong
working knowledge of issues pertaining to foster care and/or teen pregnancy and parenthood. Lived experience with
foster care or teen pregnancy and parenthood is viewed favorably.
This position requires local travel, therefore, they will possess reliable transportation, a valid SC driver's license, car
insurance, and suitable driving record in accordance with SC Dept. of Social Services policy.

bend at the waist and knees; twist at the waist; shift direction quickly (180 degrees); and/or lift, move, or lower up to 50
pounds. Must have the ability to drive a vehicle. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to
perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal;
extensive reading. The employee must also possess the ability to speak clearly, hear, read, and understand the English
Language to communicate in person and over the phone.
COMPENSATION
This is a grant funded position and contingent upon continued funding. The compensation package will include a
competitive salary (range $40,000-$55,000), health insurance stipend, and matched retirement plan.
