Meet Sarah
At just 15 years old, Sarah was pregnant and living in an unsafe environment when the Department of Social Services placed her in the care of Young Moms Together (formerly Florence Crittenton Programs). Despite the instability and emotional toll of being separated from her family, Sarah remained deeply committed to her education. She completed 8th grade while navigating a difficult pregnancy and later continued her schoolwork—even from her infant son’s hospital bedside—thanks to a laptop provided by our team. Her determination never wavered, even when she faced challenges with childcare and language barriers.
Sarah’s story is a powerful reminder that education can be both a lifeline and a launchpad. With the right support system in place—including consistent academic access, basic needs assistance, and a safe environment—Sarah not only graduated from middle school, she did so with pride and perseverance.

The Independent Living Experience
Our residential program offers a safe, supportive home where young women receive 24-hour care in a structured group living environment. Parenting residents have private rooms, while others may share bedrooms and bathrooms. Shared spaces like the living room, classroom, and dining area foster connection, creativity, and community. With family-style meals, daily routines, and age-appropriate responsibilities, residents build life skills and meaningful relationships in a nurturing, home-like setting.
The Housing Support Experience
At Young Moms Together, we know that turning 18 doesn’t mean a young mom is ready to navigate housing alone. That’s why we walk alongside each participant as she takes the next step toward independence.
Through Housing Support, young moms who are aging out of our residential care—or coming from other unstable environments and who can legally live on their own—receive hands-on guidance to secure and maintain stable housing. We help them build rental history, broker relationships with leasing agents and landlords, and understand lease agreements, utilities, and tenant rights.
But the support doesn’t stop at move-in. Our team continues to provide the same wraparound care—access to healthcare, parenting education, workforce readiness, and goal coaching—ensuring each mom has what she needs to not just stay housed, but to thrive.
